Rare Chromosome Disorder Awareness Day
June 29, 2024

Thursday, June 13th is Rare Chromosome & Gene Disorder Awareness Day. Here are some ways you can get involved:
- Give a Presentation: Consider giving a presentation at work or an assembly at school. If your employer has “lunch & learn” sessions, suggest organizing one to raise awareness about rare chromosome and gene conditions and the work of Unique. You can even run a cake sale alongside the presentation to raise funds.
- Unique Challenge: Participate in the Unique Challenge! Walk, push, or run a mile a day from June 1st until Rarechromoday (and beyond if you can). This challenge celebrates all members, regardless of their ability. Set up a page on JustGiving, share what you’re doing, and spread the word.
- Wear Blue & Yellow: On Rarechromoday (June 13th), show your support by wearing something blue and yellow. It could be a Unique wristband, t-shirt, or even just stripy socks or a scarf. You can also make a donation on the Join the Awareness Day Zoom Q & A: For the first time, Unique is holding a Q & A via Zoom for families affected by rare chromosome or gene disorders. Meet the Unique team, ask questions, and gain knowledge to share with others.
